Stevenage was the first New Town designated after the Second World War, in 1946. As a result, much of its housing dates from the 1950s and 1960s, laid out in neighbourhoods such as Bedwell, Broadwater, Shephall, Chells, Pin Green and Symonds Green, with the historic Old Town High Street at its heart.
Many homes from that era have had their windows and doors changed over the years, and plenty are now ready for an upgrade. LDM Installations replaces tired units with modern, energy-efficient windows and composite or uPVC doors, and repairs locks, seals and glazing when a full replacement isn't needed.
New Town houses were built to practical, repeated designs, so window and door openings on a street are often similar. That makes it easy to see how a new door colour or window style will look before you choose, and our online Door Designer lets you try composite door options first.
Stevenage Old Town has a conservation area. If your home is in it, check with Stevenage Borough Council whether changes to windows or doors need permission before work begins.
